George VI (0.500 Silver Coinage)
The first coinage halfcrowns of George VI feature a vertically concave royal shield, with two crowned double G cyphers on either side of the shield.

Obverse: Bare head of George VI facing left. The obverse inscription reads: GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX

Reverse: A large uncrowned quartered, concave shield. At its sides, two crowned double G cyphers. The reverse legend reads: FID DEF IND IMP HALF CROWN 1938
